Edward Drzazinski: Live Music and Hospitality Industry

Hello! I’m Edward Drzazinski, and I’ve spent nearly two decades immersed in the vibrant world of live music and hospitality. Based in Chicago, IL, my journey has been filled with unforgettable experiences, from booking national and local talent to ensuring guests have the best possible time at events and venues. Here’s a look at my professional path and what drives my passion for this industry.

From Promoter to Talent Buyer

Edward Drzazinski Promoter

Since September 2005, I’ve been working as an Independent Talent Buyer and Promoter in Chicago. This role has allowed me to book a diverse range of national and local talent through agents, management, and direct contacts. I’ve developed and maintained strong relationships with venues, bars, and nightclubs, ensuring that each event is a unique experience.

One of my proudest accomplishments was planning and executing over 500 shows for more than 20 different venues. A highlight was the 2013 NYE event at Reggie’s Rock Club, which was listed as the #1 NYE show in Chicago by Pitchfork Magazine and ranked in the top 50 NYE events nationally by Spin Magazine. Managing budgets and leveraging relationships with media, food, liquor, and other partners have been key to producing successful events.

Leading in Hospitality

Bartending and Management

In addition to my work in live music, I’ve also embraced roles in the hospitality sector, focusing on management and leadership positions. Currently, I am the Bar Lead at Cheba Hut in Wrigleyville since December 2021, where I oversee bar operations and ensure a high-quality customer experience. This role has been incredibly rewarding, and I’ve even had the honor of winning two company-wide bartender contests. In July 2022, I placed first in a bar promo contest. The prize included an exciting trip to Fort Collins, CO, where I toured and hung out at the New Belgium Brewery and Cheba Hut HQ. Later, in September 2022, I was also recognized as a Topo Chico / Deep Eddy Bartender Contest Winner.

Previously, I served as a bartender/manager at Grand Bar, where I was responsible for opening the bar as a key holder, overseeing staff schedules, and ensuring smooth daily operations. My other previous experience includes bartending at Jack’s Pumpkin Pop-Up and Nola Bar & Kitchen, where I handled high-volume service.

Event Production and Marketing

I have worked as the production manager for all of my events since 2005, handling show production independently at multiple venues. Additionally, I have previously worked for companies such as MP Shows and venues like Live Wire Lounge, managing shows from load-in to settlement. I also played a key role in transitioning and re-branding Ultra Lounge from a Club/Dance format to a Rock format. As a Marketing Coordinator, I developed and designed marketing materials, organized special events, and executed promotional campaigns.

Education and Skills

I hold an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Web Design, Programming, and Networking from Moraine Valley Community College and a Radio and T.V. Broadcasting Certificate from the Illinois Center for Broadcasting. Additionally, from July 2004 to October 2004, I gained valuable experience as a Producer (Intern) at WBBM-FM B96 in Chicago. My skills span hospitality, management, team building, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.

Beyond Work and Current Projects

Outside of work, I’m passionate about local music, concerts, festivals, nightlife, restaurants, sports, and fashion. These interests keep me connected to the cultural pulse of Chicago and inspire my professional endeavors. My love for these activities help me stay connected to the latest trends and events in the city.

I am currently developing my blogs Louder Chicago (louderchicago.com) and Chicago Fests (chicagofests.com). Louder Chicago focuses on the music scene and event listings. Chicago Fests is dedicated to the city’s numerous festivals, providing guides, schedules, and insider tips. These projects allow me to combine my professional skills with my personal passions.
